Adha means "sacrifice".The celebration of Eid al-Adha is to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah and his willingness to sacrifice his son,Ismail, when God ordered him to.

Allah says in the Quran:
“Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety from you. Thus have We subjected them to you that you may glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and give good tidings to the doers of good.” [Surah Hajj:37]

During this day,Muslims will slaughter an animal which must be in good health and over a certain age in order to be slaughtered, in a “halal” friendly, Islamic way.The tradition also include dividing the meat into three equal parts:family, relatives and friends, and the poor. The aim is to ensure that every Muslim can eat meat. People always say Eid mubarak or happy Eid al-Adha to greet during this day. The celebration clearly demonstrates the message of dedication, friendliness and equality.
