The month of Ramadan is that in which was revealed the Quran; a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance, and the criterion (of right and wrong). And whosoever of you is present, let him fast the month, and whosoever of you is sick or on a journey, a number of other days. Allah desires for you ease; He desires not hardship for you; and that you should complete the period, and that you should magnify Allah for having guided you, and that perhaps you may be thankful.[Quran 2:185]

Sharia stipulates that all Muslims, except the sick, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, infants, and those who are on the journey before sunrise, should fast for the entire month. Fasting from dawn to sunset, abstaining from eating, drinking, sexual intercourse, tobacco products, evil things and bestial words. You ought to keep daliy prayer and recitation of the Quran as well. What's more, certain kinds of food are especially popular during Ramadan, such as dates.

Suhoor is a meal that Muslims eat in the morning before fasting in Ramadan. This meal was eaten before prayer. It is matched to iftar as the evening meal replacing the traditional three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner), although in some places, dinner is also consumed later in the evening after iftar.
